According to #Forbes, $4 billion is a price for building the most expensive hub in the world.
Architect: Santiago Calatrava
The World Trade Center Transportation Hub and the main station house, the Oculus, opened in New York under the National September 11 Memorial plaza.
The hub connects visitors to 11 different subway lines, the PATH rail system from New Jersey, and the Battery Park City Ferry Terminal.
The project was a subject to many debates and changes:
-the construction took 12 years instead of 5 years expected;
the cost of the project doubled over the time;
a lot of original architectural ideas had been abandoned.
Although, Calatrava chose the minimal engagement tactics he has faced a wave of criticism.
The project is considered wasteful, but look how amazingly beautiful it is!
Futurism as its finest!
